FEATURE ARTICLE Ladder Stabilizer Reaching New Heights
A ladder leveling system developed by a Canadian inventor is breaking new "uneven ground" with its specific design for safety.
How many times have you cursed unsafe ladder locations? Well, curse no more with Basemate, a ladder-stabilizing device designed for professionals and "do-it-yourselfers."
The hardened steel (arch) device attaches to aluminum, fiberglass and wooden ladders to provide a wider, more stable platform that quickly adjusts to uneven terrain. The arch is firmly held by a triple-action locking system; simply tap on the release lever with your foot and the weight of the ladder drops, allowing the arch to slide, providing four-point contact.
Basemate allows ladders to level themselves on uneven surfaces, such as rocky ground. The steel arch exceeds type 1A USA and Grade 1 CDN ladder requirements. The stabilizer can be installed on any extension ladder and has been weight-tested to 1,200 pounds (544 kilograms).
The recommended retail price is $79.99. For more information on Basemate Ladder Levelling Systems Inc., call 1-604-512-1238 or visit www.basemate.ca. The Canadian distributor for this product is Holland Imports Inc. Contact Holland by calling 1-604-299-5741 or visiting www.hollandimports.com.
